Contextual Learning means learning skills, concepts, or information in the context that they will be useful in everyday life. Learning in context minimizes the "transfer problem" which arises when people are unable to apply what they have learned to new or slightly different situations. Imagine teaching a child "braking theory, steering rules, turn-signaling techniques, hints for tackling intersections, and rules for driving in traffic" without driving or even riding in a car. This method of teaching would be quickly perceived as boring and inefficient, unlikely to produce good drivers. Driving, like everything else, should be taught in context.
